Joel has developed and managed communications and public affairs strategies for some of the nation’s largest corporations, government agencies and non-profit organizations, including United Airlines, America Online, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Planned Parenthood, the American Foundation for AIDS Research (AmFAR), the American Association of University Women, People for the American Way, and many others. He has also woven together policy and communications for Members of Congress, city officials, and advocacy causes.
Joel served as a legislative aide and press secretary for seven years on Capitol Hill. His work included staffing for a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and the Finance Committee’s Subcommittee on International Development Institutions. Joel also created the first congressional caucus focused on computer software and information technology, the House InfoTech Caucus.
